Secondary developmental glaucoma (secondary infantile glaucoma, secondary congenital glaucoma) is type of developmental glaucoma [glaucoma - developmental] with associated ocular congenital abnormalities. Developmental anomalies are often limited to the angle of the anterior chamber, but a variety of other ocular malformations may be associated (aniridia, Peters anomaly) and systemic defects may be present as in several syndromes (Lowe syndrome, Axenfeld-Rieger syndrome, neurofibromatosis type I, Sturge-Weber syndrome). Secondary developmental glaucoma in association with developmental anomalies of the anterior segment of the eye may result from mutations in the PAX6, PTX2, and FKHL7 genes.
