Niemann-Pick disease type E  (adult type Niemann-Pick disease). is a specific type of Niemann-Pick disease according to the Crocker classification. It is characterized by an onset in adulthood. Affected persons have a moderate hepatosplenomegaly. There is an increase in sphingomyelin in the liver, spleen and bone marrow.
