Trachomatous keratitis (pannus trachomatosus) is the pannus that involves the cornea in trachoma. This type of keratitis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis is characterized by the presence of delicate branching blood vessels at the superior corneoscleral limbus that extend into the cornea beneath the corneal epithelium.
